Annie Rettic has played music since the age of 10, when she began
playing the Viola. She has a solid foundation in classical music, and
majored in vocal performance in college. It was there that she first
heard Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez ,Judy Collins and other Folk singers and
began to branch out. She built her first Dulcimer after hearing Joni's
Blue album, and started experimenting and developing her own
fiddling style after hearing Scarlet Rivera's violin on
Dylan's
album Desire. Her exposure to Irish and Bluegrass music led her to have
a 5 string viola built in 1995. She continues to expose herself to new
genres and to try to grow as a musician. In 2007,
she moved
to San Diego and began to write her own songs on Dulcimer, Ukelele, and
Guitar. Her original songs embrace many styles including
Country,
Bluegrass, Folk and Blues. She's recorded with numerous talented
musicians in the area, including Chelsea Flor, Dave Humphries, Eddy
Jason Coven. In addition to her solo act, she currently plays
in
duos with Sweet Joyce Ann (Wild Older Women), and JT
Moring (Neck
and Neck). She also recently joined Brenda Panneton and Jane Berry to
form the trio Black Bottom Pie, and continues as one of the founding
members of the band The Shady Side Players.
Annie also plays weddings, parties, and occassions!
